Oaksey House interior

Oaksey House situated in Lambourn, Berkshire, provides a unique, safe and friendly living environment within a racing community, on a permanent and temporary basis as required.

Accomodation includes two fully equipped units for the disabled with room for carers, plus two double and eight single dwellings.

Facilities at Oaksey House are designed to help the body and the mind and include,

  • Specialist physiotherapy
  • Medical consultations
  • Fully equipped gym including two equisizers
  • Rehabilitaion gym

These facilities are available to residents and also the local racing community and are being extensively used by numerous jockeys to aid and speed up recovery from wide ranging injuries. Such is the intensity and specialist nature of available treatments, that already in a short space of time, Oaksey House has achieved some amazing results.

Building on the success of Oaksey House, plans are already underway to consider a similar project to serve the needs of those in the north of the country.

Additional Facilities

Within Oaksey House there are three function rooms available for hire, with catering facilities, to the equestrian industry and its related organisations.

  • The Arkle Room, accommodates up to 70 people. Fully equipped with AV and WiFi
  • The Boardroom, accommodates up to 12 people. Fully equipped  with AV and WiFi
  • The JR room, accommodates up to 6 people.

Eco-friendly design

 

The main building is set to achieve the highest BREAM (Buildings Research Establishments Environmental Assessment Method) rating for producing the minimum carbon footprint, a first in this area.

The building is naturally ventilated and is heated by under floor pipes.It has a rainwater harvesting system, solar hot water, automatic daylight dimming lighting, light pipes and even bat houses. It features specially designed building fabric, stringent insulation standards, sustainably sourced timber and recycled aggregates such as glass pellets and waste plastics, even including brown plastic coffee cups!

COST The total cost is in the region of £5m.
