Jack's original vision some 15 years ago was for a retirement home for injured jockeys. Oaksey House in Lambourn became the culmination of this dream and more. Oaksey House is not only a home for retired jockeys but also provides physiotherapy, rehabilitation treatment, medical consultations and a fully equipped gym to help aid and speed recovery.
Since being officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal in 2009, many jockeys, current, retired and disabled, have benefited enormously from the specialist treatment facilities available.
Such has been the demand at Oaksey House that a second similar facility in the Malton area is now firmly on the agenda. Affectionately referred to as The House That Jack Built, plans are now well underway to find a suitable site location.
How can YOU help?
Jack's novel idea to encourage support for "The House That Jack Built" is to offer the racing public the chance to support this project by purchasing a brick - or several bricks, to carry their name or that of their favourite horse or loved one as a perpetual record of their donation. These will be included in the construction of the gable ends, walls and pathways for all to see.
